Private Big5 game reserve with luxury lodge consisting of 14 rooms. This privately owned exclusive reserve in the Waterberg is 40km from Vaalwater and is unique offering the most amazing natural beauty to a combination of local and international guests. The field guide are responsible for conducting guided safari experiences and ensuring that they are unique, personalised, professional and enjoyable. Field guide are expected to be involved in an on-going process of self –improvement and knowledge enhancement.

We are looking for a very dedicated and passionate Guide to join our small team.


To be considered you must have the follow:

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience as a field guide in a 5* lodge environment
  • A FGASA Field Guide NQF2 level 1 (Advanced Field Guide NQF4 (level 2) preferred) qualification or higher with theory and practical completed (CATHSSETA certification)
  • Registered with NDT
  • Full Trails guide certificate (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Waterberg preferred
  • Valid first aid certificate
  • Valid Advance Rifle Handling certificate (preferred)
  • A valid South African Code 8 Driver’s license and PDP
  • Excellent communication and people handling skills
  • An inherent passion for observing, sharing and learning about fauna and flora
  • Co-operative – and keen to work with the balance of the team in the interests of the lodge and the guests
  • Organized – with attention to detail and time

Remuneration indication: R8,000 – R15,000 per month (dependent on experience, skills and qualifications) that includes contributions to medical aid and pension fund. The package will also include:

  • Uniform
  • Bonus’s will be at the discretion of management and tips are in addition to your monthly salary.

One field guide conservation orientated/monitor with FGASA Field Guide NQF2 (Level 1), PDP and preferable Back Up Trails.

At least one year experience.

Field Guide needed for Luxury Tented Camp in Big 5 Game Reserve near Pretoria. We deal with both international and local guests. Uniform, accommodation and meals are provided as part of the package. Duties will include

  •  Transferring, welcoming and meeting of guests on arrival
  • Assist with check in procedures and porterage duties
  • Providing guided game drives, game walks, and tours of our predator sanctuary
  • Ensure that all vehicles and field equipment are kept in excellent working order
  • Responsible for all preparation for own game drive
  • Hosting guests in the evenings after game drive (includes dining with guests)
  • Assisting with routine and preventative maintenance in and around the lodge as needed
  • When the camp is not busy you will be expected to assist with our volunteer program and its related duties
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with company procedures; Assist with ongoing projects and related administration.


The following minimum requirements are needed for the candidates:

  • Experience guiding in Big 5 areas
  • FGASA Field Guide NQF2 (Level 1) CATHSSETA certified
  • Code 10 or 8 (code 10 preferred) and PDP essential
  • Valid first aid certificate
  • NDT registered
  • Contactable references
  • A head and shoulder (ID type) photo needed
  • Should be presentable with strong command of the English language
  • Self-motivated and show initiative

Salary: R4000 - R8000 depending on experience. Package also includes full board and lodging.

The candidate must have fynbos experience and be NDT registered in the Western Cape.

Rock Art experience and knowledge will be advantageous.

Candidates will be responsible for an evening Nature drive, morning Rock Art Drive and facilitating a range of activities for guests such as archery, canoeing, picnics, hosting extraordinary dining, fishing, hiking and astronomy.

Candidates must have the following: NDT Registration WC, First Aid Level 1, FGASA Field Guide NQF2 (Level 1) or similar, PDP Licence

The salary offered is negotiable and will start at R6000.00 depending on experience.

Job description:
A private Eco-tourism company based in a well-known nature reserve in the Overberg area is looking to recruit an advanced Field Guide/Marine Guide. The applicant will be required to host and guide guests with enthusiasm on nature based activities offered by the company.

Skills required:
Applicants should have at least a FGASA advanced level (NQF 4) or Marine Guide (NQF 2) certificate with a keen interest in the Fynbos Biome, Birdlife and the Coastal environment. A skipper’s licence will be an advantage. At least two - three years’ work experience in a similar position. We are looking to employ a dedicated and reliable individual.

The Greater Limpopo Carnivore Program (GLCP), established in 2011, is a research and conservation program aimed at improving the conservation of lions, cheetah, wild dog, leopard and spotted hyena across the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area of southern Africa with a particular focus on the Mozambican lands.
The GLCP has recently initiated the Limpopo Carnivore Protection Unit, an anti-poaching program which focuses on the targeted removal of snares and poison to reduce the most detrimental threats to wild lions and other carnivores in the region.
The Greater Limpopo Carnivore Program is seeking applications to fill the position of anti-poaching team operations manager. The position will be based in the Limpopo National Park, Mozambique and function on a yearly contractual basis. This successful candidate will work closely with and report to the program manager and work closely with the team’s rangers and the National Park protection services.

Key responsibilities:
Deploy and collect rangers on patrols
Collect and report information on poaching activities
Drive and maintain anti-poaching vehicle
Conduct supply runs
Collect ecological and poaching data
Maintain a small base camp

Key qualifications:
Highly motivated individual
Strong conservation focus
Experience living and working in remote wilderness
Education and/or experience in either ecology, wildlife management, conservation, guiding or anti-poaching
Drivers licence and clean police check
Basic mechanical knowledge, navigational abilities, first aid, computer skills and survival skills
Organized and adept at improvising and finding solutions.

The position is being offered as a private contract between September 1st to December 31 2017, with option to renew for the following 12 months and yearly afterwards. The candidate will work 3 weeks on 1 week off. Pay is R 6000/month, and includes accommodation. Deadline for applications is August 1, 2017.
